Celine Dion has warned fans about her AI-generated songs

Celine Dion is alerting fans against “fake” songs that mimic her voice using artificial intelligence and are making the rounds on the internet.

A number of videos that mimic Celine Dion’s performances or change her voice have surfaced recently, some of which falsely claim to be the singer’s most recent releases.

She has withdrawn from the public spotlight since releasing her last original album, Courage, in 2019, due to her diagnosis of Stiff-Person Syndrome, which has prevented her from making new songs.

In an Instagram post, Celine Dion’s team clarified that songs that purport to be voiceovers are “not approved and are not part of her official discography.”

Additionally, they mentioned that these recordings had appeared on a number of online platforms.

In an interview with Vogue, Celine Dion opened up about first noticing the symptoms of her illness while on the Taking Chances world tour in 2008. “Quite rapidly, I was having difficulty controlling my voice,” she recalled. “It would go really high, and then it would spasm. So the first thing you do as a singer? Well, you go straight to the ENT,” she continued. However, after the doctors couldn’t find anything concrete, “they looked at [my vocal cords] from every angle, and they said it was pristine.”

She completed the tour, but as time passed, things got worse. “I started having a hard time walking. I was holding on to things.”

Before preparing new music, going on tour, or going back to her residency, the “Because You Loved Me” hitmaker has prioritized recovering and regaining her strength, even though she has performed a few times in recent years, including a comeback at the Summer Olympics in Paris last year.

Who is Celine Dion?

Canadian singer Celine Dion is well-known for having strong, technically accomplished vocals. She was born on March 30, 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada.

Her hits in the 1990s included “My Heart Will Go On,” the famous theme song from the film Titanic, and “The Power of Love.” Dion is regarded as one of the best-selling musicians of all time and has won countless Grammy Awards and other honors throughout her career.

She is well-known for her poignant performances and has had a successful residency in Las Vegas. Dion is renowned for performing in a variety of languages, including Italian, Spanish, French, and English.

She has stepped aside from her singing career in recent years due to health problems, including her diagnosis of Stiff-Person Syndrome.

AI is becoming increasingly perilous

AI has developed to the point that it can now produce phony films and mimic the voices of celebrities, making it simple to disseminate false information.

For example, artificial intelligence (AI) has produced deepfake films of Elon Musk, mimicking his voice and appearance, often for humorous or deceptive purposes.

Similarly, AI has replicated Tom Hanks’ voice, occasionally producing fake films or interviews where he seems to say things he has never said.

Additionally, AI has imitated Morgan Freeman’s recognizable voice, creating videos in which he appears to narrate material he never filmed.

A well-known example highlights the potential risks of deepfakes: an AI-generated video manipulates Barack Obama’s voice to make him say things he never spoke.

These illustrations highlight the dangers of AI speech mimicry, particularly when applied dishonestly or to disseminate false information.
