Chiranjeevi receives lifetime achievement award at UK House of Commons

The UK Government honored Chiranjeevi with the Lifetime Achievement Award, with British-Indian Member of Parliament Navendu Mishra chairing the event.

Chiranjeevi is a beloved actor with a legacy of more than 150 films in the film industry. Vishwambhara is his next project, a fantasy drama. He is also reportedly working with Dasara director Srikanth Odela in an upcoming gangster film. In addition, Anil Ravipudi will feature him in his upcoming film.

Chiranjeevi shared pictures from London on Instagram and X, expressing how honored he felt to receive the award. In his heartfelt post, he wrote:

“Heart filled with gratitude for the honour at the House of Commons – UK Parliament by so many Esteemed Members of Parliament, Ministers & Under Secretaries, Diplomats. Humbled by their kind words. Heartened by the Life Time Achievement Award by Team Bridge India.”

He truly seemed moved by the recognition and appreciation.

Chiranjeevi also shared how much this recognition means to him, expressing that it inspires him to keep going. He said, “This honor motivates me to continue my work with greater vigor. And love to each one of you for your beautiful congratulatory messages.” His gratitude and determination were evident in his words.

Who is Chiranjeevi?

Chiranjeevi, is an Indian actor, producer, and politician known for his works in Telugu cinema. Having acted in over 150 films and worked in the industry for more than four decades, he is one of the most enduring and lauded stalwarts of Indian cinema.

Chiranjeevi, whose birth name is Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, was born on August 22, 1955, in Mogalthur, a small village in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

He studied at Sri Y N College in Narasapuram and later enrolled himself in Madras Film Institute for acting. Chiranjeevi made his acting debut in 1978 with film Punadhirallu. But it was Pranam Khareedu (1978) that gave him a breakmore about 2 hours ago. In the early ’80s, he shot to stardom with action and dance-heavy roles that made him the “Megastar” of Telugu cinema.

Chiranjeevi married Surekha Konidela and has three children, including famous Telugu actor Ram Charan. He actively leads the Chiranjeevi Humanitarian Trust (CCT), providing medical assistance and blood donations to thousands of people. His trust has kept one of India’s biggest blood banks open, saving many lives.

His works and awards

Among Chiranjeevi’s most famous movies are Rudraveena (1988), a drama that won a National Award, and Khaidi (1983), which catapulted him to fame as an action star. He set records with Gharana Mogudu (1992) and costarred with Sridevi in the fantasy smash Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990).

With Shankar Dada MBBS (2004) and Indra (2002), he maintained his supremacy. He returned to the spotlight with Khaidi No. 150 (2017) after a short break, then went on to star in Godfather (2022) and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019).

Throughout his career, Chiranjeevi has won various awards. In 2006, he received India’s third-highest civilian accolade, the Padma Bhushan. Because of his exceptional performances, he has received numerous Nandi Awards. He has received multiple awards as a top performer from the Filmfare Awards South.

Additionally, SIIMA and IIFA have recognized him for his lifetime achievements in Indian cinema. He was honored with the UK House of Commons’ Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024 for his contributions to charities and film.
