Karan Johar excited about launching his “24th Debutant” filmmaker

Karan Johar has shared an exciting update about launching his 24th debutant filmmaker under the Dharma Productions banner.

In an Instagram post, the director wrote, “When I began producing films (once I stepped into Dharma as an active part of the company), in 2003 with Kal Ho Naa Ho – the idea was to empower filmmakers and storytellers…to pay it forward. We got it right…we got it wrong but the intent was always to put out stories and films we believed in. The motive was only either entertain, seek acclaim or to simply have fun at the movies!”

On an orange background note, he mentioned that it would be the ‘proudest film’ of his production house, Dharma Productions. Karan Johar said, “One can never predict commercial success BUT what I can say with all my heart is that this film is one of Dharma’s proudest films!”

A well-known Bollywood director, Karan Johar has also worked as a producer and a TV personality. He succeeded his father, Yash Johar, as CEO of Dharma Productions, a well-known Indian film production firm, in the early 2000s.

Since its founding in 1976, Dharma Productions has become one of the top production companies in Indian cinema, producing a large number of popular and award-winning films. Dharma became a focal point of contemporary filmmaking thanks to Karan Johar’s vision.

With his distinctive storytelling approach, Karan transformed Bollywood storytelling by incorporating contemporary sensibilities into classic subjects. His movies have excellent production standards, compelling emotional stories, and visually stunning cinematic storytelling.

Under Karan’s direction, Dharma produced some of its most recognizable films, such as Student of the Year (2012), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), which brought fresh talent to the field. Through Student of the Year, Karan Johar has also been instrumental in the beginning of a number of Bollywood careers, including that of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra.
