Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finalize their Divorce

Right after 2 years of their happy married life, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, and the divorce got finalized in December 2024. 

The iconic couple “Brangelina” fell in love on a set.

Both of them are individually renowned actors who are loved worldwide. While working together on the set of the 2005 action comedy film known as Mr. and Mrs. Smith, they fell in love. In the movie, they played the role of husband and wife who discover that both of them are heired as secret assassins to kill one another. 

During production, Jolie later acknowledged in interviews that she and the actor became close. She talked about how they bonded over their love of creativity and how their time together turned into a happy team effort. 

Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston before and got divorced in the year 2005. Similarly, Jolie was married to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. 

In 2006, Jolie said she was expecting Nouvel Joile-Pitt, their first biological child, making their relationship public. Together, they had adopted Maddox and Zahara by that point.They share six children together.

After many years of togetherness, they got engaged in 2012. The couple cited that their children are the main reason for making their relationship official. After 2 years of getting engaged, they tied their knots at their estate in Chateau Miraval, France, in 2014. The bride’s dress was adorned with artwork of their children, and their children played the main role of walking her down the aisle and reading vows.

As they raised their big family and balanced their Hollywood professions with charitable endeavors, Jolie and Pitt were viewed as a power couple. Professionally, they worked together.Jolie directed Pitt in the 2015 movie ‘By the Sea.’

Brangelina divorce reasons

 In November 2015, the couple made their final appearance on the red carpet together for the movie directed by Jolie, ‘By the Sea, in which they both starred. Jolie wrote and directed the film, which focused on an unhappy married couple.

“We have fights and problems like any other couple. We have days when we drive each other absolutely mad and want space, but the problems in the movie aren’t specific problems.” was said by Jolie 

September 2016 plane incident 

A private plane’s journey from France to Los Angeles was the scene of the 2016 incident that prompted Angelina Jolie to file for divorce from Brad Pitt. Pitt allegedly grew intoxicated and violent with Jolie and their kids during the flight. Jolie claimed irreconcilable differences when she filed for divorce on September 19, 2016.

Although it took years to negotiate custody and financial arrangements, the couple was formally pronounced legally single in 2019.

8-year-long journey of relief after divorce settlement

In an interview with People magazine, Jolie’s attorney James Simon stated that his client has been concentrating on “finding peace and healing for their family” ever since the divorce process started.

Angelina’s claims of abuse against Pitt initially surfaced during those proceedings. In court filings, she stated that he had physically and emotionally abused her during a 2016 private jet trip the couple had with their kids, who were then between the ages of eight and fifteen.

A default declaration submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court was approved by both of them. The terms of the settlement of the divorce were kept confidential.
