The video was published through the official Facebook page of Prasai’s Secretariat. In the eight-and-a-half-minute-long clip, Prasai claimed that he is currently in Nepal.

He also announced that he would provide financial assistance of Rs 500,000 each to the families of the two youths who died during the protest on Chaitra 15. He stated that the amount would be given once he comes out in public.

Summary of Prasai’s Statement:

He said that many media outlets made memes about him and portrayed him as a joker, even calling him “Murga Prasai” in reference to financial matters.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins from zero. A vision begins with one person. A movement starts with a single individual,” he said.

Prasai referred to himself as the “Durga of every household,” adding that Durga is an idea. “I haven’t run away, I’ve just taken precautions. If I survive, this movement and people’s revolt will succeed. If I don’t, the revolt will end,” he stated.

He expressed condolences for the death of two journalists on the 15th and promised Rs 500,000 in support to each of their families. He mentioned that he does not know whether the government will provide relief, but he will once he comes out.

“I haven’t run. I’ve only protected myself. Videos are surfacing showing how people on rooftops were aiming that day. I wasn’t born to run—I was compelled. Prachanda, KP Oli, and people from the so-called royalist party decided to dismiss the protest and label me a madman and a joker.

They are trying to take away the leadership from me, but I will return with more energy and new plans,” Prasai said.

He added that his lawyers Tank Dulal, Sushil Pant, Raman Shrestha, Surendra Bhandari, Swagat Nepal, Dhruva Lal Shrestha, Bhimarjun Acharya, among others—and under human rights observation, he is ready to appear as early as tomorrow. He stated again that he is somewhere inside Nepal and will go public if his life is guaranteed within 24 hours.

He also addressed the IGP, saying, “There is no need to search for me. If you take responsibility for my safety, I will appear within 24 hours.”
