Real Madrid won a close and exciting match against Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-final of the FIFA Club World Cup. Real Madrid scored two early goals and looked comfortable, but Dortmund fought back in the final minutes. In the end, Real Madrid held on to win 3–2 and move into the semifinals, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain.
Strong start from Real Madrid Players
Real Madrid began the game with great energy and focus. Right from the first whistle, the players looked confident and calm. They passed the ball smoothly and worked well as a team. Their movement on the pitch showed that they were in control and ready to take charge.

In just the 10th minute, Madrid got their reward. Gonzalo García found himself in a good position inside the penalty box. He received a sharp pass from a teammate, took a quick touch, and then struck the ball powerfully. It flew past the goalkeeper and into the net. The crowd cheered as Real Madrid went 1–0 up. T Only a few minutes later, another chance came, and they made it count again. This time, it was Fran García who made the difference. After a smart low cross into the box, he timed his run perfectly and jumped to head the ball. It was a clean and accurate header, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. Madrid now led 2–0.
Dortmund come back goal after 90th Minutes
For most of the second half, Real Madrid stayed ahead. But in extra time, the game changed. In the 93rd minute, Maximilian Beier scored for Borussia Dortmund. It gave Dortmund some hope. But just one minute later, Kylian Mbappé scored a beautiful goal.

Mbappé’s goal was amazing. He did a bicycle kick where a player kicks the ball while flying backward in the air. The ball went straight into the net. The fans cheered loudly and Real Madrid was up 3–1 again.
Dean Huijsen Red card and Dortmund Score another goal
The game took another big twist in the 95th minute. Real Madrid were leading 3–1 and looked close to winning. But then, something unexpected happened. Dean Huijsen, a young defender for Real Madrid, made a serious mistake. He was trying to stop Serhou Guirassy, a strong forward from Borussia Dortmund, who was running into the penalty box with the ball.
Huijsen slid in to tackle, but he caught Guirassy’s leg instead of the ball. Guirassy fell down, and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. It was a clear foul. Because Huijsen was the last defender and denied a clear goal chance, the referee also showed him a red card. That meant Huijsen had to leave the field right away. Madrid were now down to 10 players.
Real Madrid will play PSG in Semi Final
With this win, Real Madrid will now face Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the semifinal. PSG had earlier beaten Bayern Munich.
Madrid’s coach, Xabi Alonso, spoke after the match. He said:
“For 80 minutes we played very well, but in the end, we gave Dortmund a chance. We must stay focused. But I’m happy with the win.”
