At the age of 73, Scottish painter Jack Vettriano, best known for his famous work “The Singing Butler,” passed away.
He was discovered dead at his Nice, France, apartment on Saturday, according to his publicist. The circumstances surrounding his death are not suspicious.
Born Jack Hoggan in Methil, Fife, on November 17, 1951, Vettriano was a self-taught artist who became well-known for his unique style.
One of his best-known pieces is The Singing Butler, a 1992 painting that became a best-seller in Britain and depicts a sophisticated couple dancing on a storm-swept beach with their butler and maid.
Jack Vettriano’s paintings were collected by notable figures, including Jack Nicholson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Tim Rice, and Robbie Coltrane.
