Chinese Ambassador Zheng Zeguang urges businesses in China and the UK to tap into opportunities from China’s steady growth.
Zheng emphasized the importance of China’s Two Sessions, which are the yearly gatherings of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the National People’s Congress, while speaking at an event in London on Monday.
He stated that China will continue to be a driving force, bringing stability and positive energy to the world—especially in economic growth, technological innovation, green transition, and global peace.
Zheng emphasized the importance of a stable and positive China-UK partnership in a world full of difficulties. He called on both parties to maintain high-level discussions, honor previous commitments, and strengthen collaboration while skillfully handling disagreements.
Sherard Cowper-Coles, chairman of the China-Britain Business Council, praised the Chinese government’s report from the Two Sessions, saying it takes a clear and disciplined approach to addressing major challenges.
“It talks about increasing consumption, putting more money in the pockets of the Chinese people, stimulating innovation and opening China up more to investment, and inviting visitors around the world not just commercial businesses, but tourists and students as well, all very very important,” said Cowper-Coles.
China-UK relation
The relationship between the two countries is complicated, juggling political conflicts with economic collaboration. On the one hand, trade and investment are still robust, and both nations gain from commercial alliances, especially in fields like green energy, technology, and finance. One of the UK’s biggest trading partners is China, and a lot of British companies see potential in the Chinese market.

Speaking at London-based think tank Asia House, he shared China’s progress over the past year in high-quality development, green and low-carbon transformation, foreign trade, and expanded market access.
Zheng emphasized recent developments in China-UK relations, such as the 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, which produced significant outcomes. He called on both parties to maintain the momentum and put collaboration first.
Zheng underlined China’s commitment to creating an Asia-Pacific community with a shared destiny in the face of growing geopolitical tensions, protectionism, and unilateralism. He emphasized the region’s critical role in propelling global prosperity.
Green effort deal between two countries
A new research paper suggests that the United Kingdom should establish a formal bilateral agreement with China to foster government-backed climate cooperation.
Since the UK Labour Party came to power in July, leaders and top officials have been holding discussions, which the report notes as evidence of the positive momentum in China-UK relations.
One of the main areas where both nations might strengthen and formalize their cooperation through a specific bilateral framework is climate change, which is often brought up as a shared interest in high-level talks.
According to the report, the basis of this cooperation should be a government-to-government agreement between China and the UK, which would raise the significance of policy suggestions and permit more bold and ambitious involvement.
It also highlights that collaboration should be centered on specific, doable tasks that are of shared interest and have quantifiable results that are easy to monitor and assess.
