Iran Calls for U.S. Accountability Over Attacks on Nuclear Sites

Iran Calls for U.S. Accountability Over Attacks on Nuclear Sites

In a firm statement that has stirred international attention, Iran has demanded that the United States be held accountable for past attacks on its nuclear facilities. The Iranian government made this call during a diplomatic meeting, expressing deep concerns over what it describes as clear violations of international law and threats to regional peace and security.

Iran’s Strong Accusation Against the U.S.

Iran’s representative at a recent United Nations conference accused the United States and its allies of deliberately targeting some of Iran’s nuclear sites with cyberattacks and sabotage.

The demand from Iran came during discussions about nuclear safety and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), where Iran insisted that the global community cannot remain silent about such attacks.Iran claimed that attacks on nuclear sites violate the UN Charter and basic humanitarian principles, and insisted that authorities must hold the perpetrators legally responsible.

Sabotage and Cyberattacks at Natanz and Other Facilities

Iran has long accused foreign powers of targeting its nuclear development, especially the Natanz enrichment facility, which has faced multiple incidents of explosions, fires, and cyberattacks in the past decade.

One of the most well-known attacks was the Stuxnet computer virus, which reportedly caused severe damage to Iran’s uranium enrichment equipment. Many experts and reports have linked the U.S. and Israel to the creation and spread of the malware, although neither country officially confirmed involvement.

According to Iranian officials, these attacks endangered not only Iranian citizens but also the global environment, given the sensitive nature of nuclear material. They claim that if any of these incidents had gone out of control, the results could have mirrored a serious nuclear disaster.

A Call to the International Community

Iran has urged the International Atomic Energy Agency and the United Nations to investigate these attacks and take necessary actions. It believes that the lack of accountability sends the wrong message and encourages further aggression.

Iran’s statement also warned against the double standards practiced by some Western countries, especially the U.S., who often call for nuclear non-proliferation while, at the same time, supporting covert actions against nuclear programs of other nations.

Tensions Remain High Over Nuclear Disagreements

This recent development comes as tensions between Iran and Western powers continue to escalate over Iran’s nuclear program. Talks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal have stalled, and mutual trust appears fragile.

Iran insists that its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful purposes, but countries like the U.S. and Israel believe Iran might be secretly working toward building nuclear weapons an allegation Tehran strongly denies.
