Pakistan has officially called on the international community to take strong and coordinated action against the Balochistan Liberation Army , a militant group it designates as a terrorist organization. The demand comes in the wake of recent attacks in Balochistan, which Islamabad blames on the BLA and other armed separatist groups.
BLA and the Insurgency in Balochistan
The BLA is a separatist group that has been active for years in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan, a region rich in resources but marred by conflict.
The group claims to fight for greater autonomy and rights for the Baloch people, accusing the central government of exploitation and neglect.

Pakistan, however, labels the BLA a terrorist group responsible for targeting security forces, civilians, and Chinese nationals working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
Islamabad maintains that the group’s violent tactics undermine national development and peace efforts in the province.
Calls for Collective Global Responsibility
Pakistan’s officials insist that terrorism should be fought without bias and that all groups using violence for political goals must be treated equally, regardless of their ideology or geography. “There should be no safe spaces or soft corners for such groups,” said a senior government official.
Islamabad also called on human rights groups and international media to avoid giving what it described as legitimacy to violent separatists by failing to mention their militant acts.
Recent Violence Rises Conflicts in Balochistan
Over the past few months, there has been a noticeable increase in attacks in Balochistan. Authorities say the BLA took part in many of these incidents. These attacks have included ambushes on military convoys and targeted strikes on infrastructure projects linked to Chinese investment.
Pakistan’s security agencies have intensified operations in the region, but the government says regional cooperation is also necessary to stop funding and safe havens for these militants. Officials allege that the BLA operates with support from foreign entities, although they have not named specific countries in recent statements.
