Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has come forward to defend the police department from increasing criticism, stating that the police continue to serve with commitment and dedication under difficult circumstances. In a recent statement, he spoke in support of police officers, saying that they work under constant pressure to keep the public safe and deserve encouragement rather than blame.
Police Officers Make Daily Sacrifices
The minister reminded everyone that police officers do not have an easy job. They face criminals, risk their lives in dangerous operations, and deal with threats day and night.

Memon emphasized that countless police officials have been martyred while on duty, and many others have suffered injuries just to make sure the streets remain safe for the public. He said these sacrifices should not be forgotten or ignored in public discussions.
Need for Balance in Media Reporting
Memon also urged the media to play a more balanced and responsible role while reporting on law enforcement. He explained that negative news about police spreads quickly and creates distrust, but good efforts often go unnoticed. He requested journalists to highlight the positive achievements of police as well, so the public can have a fair view.
According to him, media reports can shape public opinion and have a strong influence on how people treat law enforcement officers. Therefore, it is important that reporting is fact-based and does not create unnecessary fear or hatred.
Police Reforms Progress
Sharjeel Memon acknowledged that the police system is not perfect and some officers may not perform their duties properly. However, he assured the public that the government is working on reforms to improve the department. He mentioned steps such as modern training, better equipment, internal monitoring, and disciplinary action against corrupt or negligent officers.
He said the goal is to make the police more effective and honest while increasing public trust in the system. Memon also said that police officers should not feel discouraged due to a few negative remarks but should stay focused on their responsibilities.
Sharjeel Memon’s strong defense of the police highlights the importance of unity and mutual respect between citizens and law enforcement. While there is room for improvement, it is also important to recognize the hard work, discipline, and courage shown by many officers every day.
By improving communication, supporting reforms, and acknowledging sacrifices, Pakistan can move toward a safer and more just society.
